April 9, 2026: The Royal Livingstone Victoria Falls Zambia Hotel by Anantara has unveiled a comprehensive refreshment of 93 rooms which included four Junior Suites. This enhancement marks a new chapter for the 25-year-old property, reaffirming its position as a beloved destination for luxury travelers with close proximity to Victoria Falls.

New Accommodation

The renovation introduces modernized room categories including the Deluxe Zambezi River Balcony Rooms, Grand Zambezi River Terrace Rooms, and the entirely new Grand Zambezi River Balcony Rooms and four Junior Suites. Each space has been redesigned to preserve the iconic safari-Victorian character while introducing a contemporary Zambian aesthetic. The design palette mirrors the earthy tones of the surrounding wilderness, utilizing updated textiles and explorer accents to create a seamless transition between interior comfort and the rugged beauty of the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park.

Upgraded bathrooms now feature separate soaking tubs and rain showers alongside new amenities and modern fixtures. In-room technology has also been elevated with the addition of flat-screen televisions, enhanced WiFi, and sophisticated climate control systems. To capitalize on the unique riverbank location, private balconies and terraces have been fitted with new furnishings, and large doors open to provide clearer sightlines of the Zambezi, making it a tranquil place to read or enjoy a drink.

Wellness Integrated

The wellness experience is anchored by the Anantara Spa’s riverside gazebos. Tucked into the manicured gardens near the pool, these four secluded sanctuaries have large glass doors that open to nature, allowing the scent of the gardens and the sound of the water to enhance every ritual.

A central highlight of the treatment menu is the Nalikwanda Lozi Journey, which pays homage to the Kuomboka ceremony. It begins with a hot stone massage to represent the earth during the dry season, followed by a hydrating facial to mirror the voyage on the royal barge. The ritual concludes with a spa pedicure, celebrating the arrival of a revitalized voyager. These lavish treatments are available to both residents and members of the public seeking luxurious self-care.

The Culinary Journey

The culinary journey at the resort celebrates the spirit of Zambia and fresh produce. Kubu Deck offers an authentic African feast beneath the stars, on the banks of the Zambezi with spectacular views of the mist from Victoria Falls. For those seeking a quiet pause, Anantara’s Designer Dining provides private jetty breakfasts overlooking the water or beneath the shade of the monkey tree or a Royal High Tea.

Exciting Pursuits

Adventure remains readily accessible for those wishing to explore beyond the resort gardens where giraffe roam freely. Step onboard the Royal Livingstone Express, a restored steam locomotive, where guests are treated to a rail journey that recaptures the romance of historic travel. As guests roll through town and over the Victoria Falls Bridge, they are served a five- course gourmet dinner. For a different kind of thrill, the picnic in the Batoka Gorge begins with a private helicopter flight over the dramatic terrain before descending into the heart of the gorge for an exquisite meal on a secluded sandbank.

"This refurbishment successfully balances our deep respect for the hotel's 25-year heritage with the evolving expectations of the modern luxury traveler," says Laurie Burr, Area General Manager. "By blending comforts with authentic Zambian soul, and warm African hospitality, we have ensured that The Royal Livingstone Hotel remains a timeless sanctuary on the banks of the Zambezi."

With added poise, The Royal Livingstone Hotel will continue to invite discerning travelers to discover the iconic wonder of Zambia, while enjoying signature Anantara service.
